Terms and Conditions.

Workshops

Completion of our booking process and making a deposit or full payment constitutes your understanding and acceptance of our terms and conditions and thus forms your contract with Alex Rae.

All workshop ticket sales are final and non-refundable. Credit will not be offered and we are unable to make exchanges to other workshops/products.

If you can't make it you're more than welcome to send a friend along in your place. Please contact us at sales@alexraehome.com.au if you want to transfer your ticket to someone else.

All workshops are taught by Alex Rae. In the unlikely case that a workshop must be postponed by Alex Rae, participants will be re-accommodated, not refunded. In the rare instance that Alex Rae cancels a workshop, a full refund will be provided.

In extreme circumstances – and with adequate notice – we may be able to re-accommodate or offer a credit voucher for the value of your purchase.

Credit vouchers are generated at the discretion of Alex Rae and are valid for 6 months from date of creation.

Part and parcel of making pottery is the understanding that sometimes pieces won't survive the process. It doesn't happen very often but if one of your pieces made in a workshop (not Pottery Club) breaks you can come back to the Carlisle Collective to remake it on a day that Alex is in the studio or it can be replaced with a similar piece made by Alex Rae.

Location

All workshops take place at the Carlisle Collective unless otherwise stated – parking is available at the back of the laneway behind the Eclectic Squirrels.

Catering

All our catering for workshops is dairy free, gluten free and vegetarian. Please inform us of any allergies or food issues you may have at least one week prior to the workshop and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Health and Safety

Users of the studio do so at their own risk with awareness of the inherent hazards of a pottery studio environment.

Alex Rae takes a serious approach towards health and safety for the sake of all staff and students. Students use the studio at their own risk, with awareness of the inherent hazards of a studio environment, which include, but are not limited to, use of sharp tools and sharp edges, exposure to toxic materials, the dangers of using materials and equipment at high temperatures, and the risks associate with breathing dust.

Students must comply with all health and safety instructions given by staff at all times.

Fire exits, which are clearly marked, are there in the interests of safety and students must not interfere with these exits for any reason. In the event of a fire, students are asked to make their way to the nearest available exit.

Smoking and vaping is forbidden in the studio.

Images for Promotional Purposes

Alex Rae has the right to take and use images of you as an attendee, of any class or event, for the purposes of promotion via web site, Instagram or other medium for the benefit solely of the said business. Please inform us if you do not wish to use any images of you.

Please ensure you have read and understood these Terms and Conditions before the end of your 7-day cooling off period. By passing this period you are deemed to have read, understood and accepted them.

Pottery Club

Collection of Works

Please arrange for your dried pieces to be bisqued within 4 weeks of making them either by contacting Alex directly or emailing her. Any unclaimed pieces will become recycled clay or Alex may use them for kids craft activities at the Carlisle Collective.

We recommend you collect your finished work as soon as possible to help keep the storage area clear, and to avoid damage. If finished pottery items are not collected within 2 months we will sadly have to dispose of it.

If you attend a class, workshop or course from further afield we can package and post to you for a basic postage and package cost, but we cannot accept any responsibility for damage in transit.

Studio Clean-up

All working areas and tools must be cleaned after use. The last 15 minutes of Pottery Club is dedicated to gathering tools and cleaning work tables, tools, and other equipment for each individual student’s work area. This is a communal studio and its cleanliness depends on everyone doing their part.

A good rule of thumb: When you are done it should be cleaner then when you started. No Exceptions please. If you don’t have time to clean up, then you don’t have time to do it!

Environment and Recycling

We try to run as a zero waste studio. All materials are reused or recycled wherever possible. Clay, glaze, and sedimentary materials are never to be poured down sinks in the studio.

Please ensure that the correct bins are used when disposing of any materials.

Conduct and Exclusion

Disruptive or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated. Users of the studio and facilities must be respectful and courteous at all times. Inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated, and we reserve the right to exclude any offending parties from the studio at any time if behaviour in our opinion is deemed dangerous, inappropriate or causes (or has the potential to cause) offence, harm, or injury.

Products

If you are unhappy or find a fault with your product, please contact us within seven days of receiving your item and we can arrange for an exchange.

Return/exchange of items will be accepted provided the item is unused and in its original packaging. Alternatively a credit note can be arranged, valid for six months from the date of purchase.

Please contact sales@alexraehome.com.au within seven days of purchase notifying us of your intention to return/exchange the item. Returns will not be accepted after 14 days from date of delivery. Return postage will be at the customers expense. No returns on sale/sample items.

Please note that Alex Rae makes no two pieces the same as they are handmade and may differ very slightly to the images and measurements online. Due to the handmade process, some variation in shape, glaze hue and size may occur from order to order. Every vessel is unique, featuring different curves and characteristics from the making and firing process. These irregularities in the finish are part of the character of the pieces and to be embraced as part of the aesthetic of handmade.
